Magic Tricks With Coins

Practising magic tricks can be difficult. I hardly ever enjoy practising magic tricks, but I do practice them, because it makes be a better magician. Practising in front of the mirror will not only show you your flaws, but it will also show you how you are going to perform in front of an audience. It will also give you the confidence to face an audience. Practice is very important in order to perform magic tricks.

Thus, without practice, you simply wont get the confidence of performing it in front of the audience. Knowledge about facts about magic tricks will tell you that the magic tricks are not magic but a skill that creates an illusion among the audience. Practice your speech as well as the trick. Figure out before hand what you want to say during the show.

Practice doing your tricks along with the patter, until they’re perfect. Now you’re ready to amaze your friends! Practising magic tricks can make a show unforgotten in the audience’s eyes, and while watching the show they will believe that you truly are a master of illusion. Practice really will make perfect when it comes to magic.

Card tricks are something that should be practised until you can do them in your sleep and do them well. Nothing ruins a good trick quicker than someone with little practice who fumbles through a trick and gives the secrets away right off the bat. Card tricks are a hobby to make you happy. It is perfect if you spend a lot of time alone to concentrate on practising the trick. Card tricks are a staple part of every magician’s repertoire and these are the first tricks that aspiring magicians learn to do.

Magicians make coins appear to vanish through the use of controlled drops or throws. A skilled magician can place an object in one hand and use misdirection to convince the audience a transfer has occurred. Coin tricks are extremely portable. While you may be able to pull a quarter out of your child’s ear, can you bend it in half? Coin magic is a lot of fun to perform since coins are readily available, fit in your pocket, and can be borrowed to perform mysterious and entertaining feats of prestidigitation.

There are many reasons why people want to do magic. Some people want the applause; others want to see the look of wonder on the faces of those in the audience. And then there are those people who merely want to have fun. One of the best ways to astound your friends and family is with mental magic tricks. These tricks are fun to learn and amazing to perform. Every magician even a beginner should have a collection of mental magic tricks ready to impress an audience.

From Your Mind to Their Mind

Mental magic tricks mostly involve staying one step ahead of your audience. With most magic tricks, scientific principles are used. However, mental magic tricks use more of a math foundation, specifically the laws of probability and statistics. When you understand how you can predict your audience’s response to certain questions, you will be able to master many mental magic tricks.

1) Pick a Card

You have heard magicians tell their audience: Pick a card, any card. Here is a unique twist. Have your audience member think of a card. You will be able to tell them the card by reading their mind. While this may sound like an impossibility mental magic tricks are done in a very possible way.

In this trick, the magician relies on the fact that most people will think of the Ace of Spades, the Queen of Hearts, the Six of Clubs or the Nine of Diamonds. Before facing your audience, pull these four cards out of the deck and put them in different pockets.

Be sure to remember which card went in what pocket. Your audience will be truly astounded when you pull their card out of your pocket. Mental magic tricks like this one are based on the probability of people choosing certain cards. With that said, this trick will also work most of the time.

2) Pick a Number

There are many mental magic tricks involving numbers. Try this one. Ask an audience member to pick a number between 50 and 100. The number must be even and have different digits. The usual answer will be 68. Once again, the idea is to be one thought ahead of your audience. Research indicates that 68 is the number most likely to be selected.

3) Pick Another Card

Fan out several cards before an audience member and ask them to select a card. The cards should be face cards with a Four of Hearts in the center. Most people will pick the Four of Hearts because it’s different and in the middle.

All of these mental magic tricks so far use math probabilities to succeed. Keep in mind that while they may work most of the time, they may not work all the time. In that case, be ready to improvise. Magicians understand that their own performance is the key to successful magic. If a trick should fail to proceed as planned, don’t let the audience know. Stay confident and in control at all times.

4) Bending a Coin

Mental magic tricks don ot always use probability. With this trick, the minds of the magician and the audience member appear to work together to get an unusual result.

Ask someone for a coin and then palm it in your hand. Have a bent coin ready in that same hand. Tell the person you will place the coin in their hand and together you will bend it. Slip the bent coin in their hand and close their fist around it. Tell the person to concentrate on the coin and when their hand opens, there is the proof!

When it comes to teaching any subject matter to beginners, it can be much easier than you might think. Simply because beginners don’t know anything about the subject or have any preconceived notions or past history of learning the subject, and whatever you teach them they learn it exactly as you teach it without polluting the teaching with their own preconceived ideas.

As you probably are quite aware, children are like little thirsty sponges that soak up information at an impressive rate. So, if you are going to be teaching magic tricks to a child or to many children you need to be prepared for all the questions that they can ask… and, believe me, kids can ask some doozies. Their honesty combined with their curiosity can be both difficult and endearing.

The first thing you will want to establish with kids is that you know what you are talking about. It is you that is the expert. You should do a few simple tricks yourself ending with the one you plan on teaching them how to do.

Depending upon the age of the child or the children, choose a magic trick to teach them that it is possible for them to do considering their height and the size of their hands.

On the other hand, if you are not a magician, don’t pretend to be and just have some fun with some very simple tricks that you can do.

If you happen to be the parent (aunt, uncle, Godmother or Godfather, Grandmother or Grandfather) of a budding magician and he or she is begging and pleading for a magic kit, you can find some very good ones online (Illusionist is a good site) or at your local magic shop.

Learning magic tricks together with you child is great fun and a great way to spend time together. And once you get started… there’s a good chance that both you and your child will get hooked!

When buying a magic kit for a child, do not choose one that says it is for kids from 4 to 104.

There are an abundance of magic tricks and kits that are geared for the age of the child. Also, if your child has been executing magic tricks and shows a real interest… their skill level may be above the recommended age anyway.

With a one size fits all magic kit, the kids wont be able to do but about half of the tricks in the kit. Their hands wont be big enough.

Also, it’s a good idea to be certain that the instructions come with pictures or video.

Information about how to do the tricks in nothing but print are almost useless to children.

Once you find one that you like, you’ll and your kids will be well on the way to hours of fun… and who knows… maybe a budding magician.

Magic Tricks With Coins
that the popularity of magic goes in cycles. Right now magic has once again surged in popularity thanks in large part to the street magic performed by illusionists like David Blaine. Because of the mystery involved and the shear entertainment, magic will always be a welcomed form of entertainment. Three popular types of magic are child magic, up-close magic, and stage magic.

Child Magic

You can probably guess the types of magic that is involved with each of these. The names are self-explanatory and “child magic” is no different.

Child magic is magic that’s used to entertain children. These types of magic tricks should be more focused on holding the attention of children rather than on pure skill. A magician might have a great trick to perform but if he takes too long to perform the trick then he’ll lose the audience. Therefore, child magic must consist of quick tricks.

Up-Close Magic

Once again, you can tell what is meant by this type of magic. Up-close magic is performed for one person or a small group of people within a small space. The magician will be sitting or standing with the person (or people) or right next to the person (or people).

Tricks that are performed with this type of magic include card tricks, tricks with coins, and other small items.

Stage Magic

The last of the three popular types of magic involves performing on a stage. This means the magician is separate from the audience and is usually performing tricks for large crowds. Stage magic must include tricks that are large enough in size so that everyone in the audience can see and know what is happening.

Tricks performed with this type of magic can be and often are grand in scale. Sawing a woman in half, turning a lady into a lion, and causing large objects to disappear are all part of stage magic. Stage magicians also must be great entertainers so that they keep the entire audience involved during the show.

Three popular types of magic are child magic, up-close magic, and stage magic. All of these types of magic are different in the way they are performed because the audience and the venue changes with each type of magic. Therefore, each of these types of magic requires a different skill set from the magician. But the one thing these three types of magic all have in common is that they are entertaining.

Magic Tricks With Coins
Performing magic is great way to meet people or to simply impress your friends. There are some magic tricks that look great to other people but are actually easy to perform. 3 easy magic tricks that you can perform are the Water to Ice trick, the Disappearing Coin trick, and the Magically Burned String trick.

The first trick is very easy to do. It’s called Water to Ice. What you will do is pour water into a cup and then dump out a couple ice cubes and no water. People will wonder how the water turned into ice.

For this trick you need a cup that isn’t see-through. When no one is looking, you will stuff a sponge in the bottom of the cup. Then put a couple ice cubes on top of the sponge inside the cup. While everyone is watching, pour water into the cup. The sponge will absorb the water so when you turn the cup over all that will pour out will be the ice cubes.

The Disappearing Coin is another easy magic trick. For this trick you will sit at a table and place a coin in front of everyone and say something like I wonder if this will work. Then you will take one of your hands and place it over the coin. With three fingers (don’t use your pinky) you will drag the coin across the table making sure you keep your hand and arm parallel to the table. Drag the coin to the edge of the table and let it drop into your lap. Then make it look like you picked it up with your three fingers. As you pick your hand up, rub your fingers together and look surprised like the coin is vanishing. Then turn your hand to the on-lookers and show them your hand is empty.

Magically Burned String is another easy magic trick to perform but it takes a little more time. You have to prepare for this trick by soaking a string in a thick solution of salt water. Make sure there is a lot of salt. Put the string in the salt water and then let it sit for an hour. Take the string out and let it dry. Once the string is dry ask someone to borrow their ring. Tie the string to the ring and then dangle the ring. Take a lighter and burn the string down at the bottom near the ring. The string will burn away but the ring will still be dangling (the salt will stay and it’s strong enough to hold the ring). People will be amazed to see the ring still suspended.

Magic tricks are a lot of fun to watch and they’re even better to perform. Most people believe magic tricks are too hard to learn but this isn’t always true. There are some very easy magic tricks anyone can learn and use. 3 such magic tricks are Water to Ice, Disappearing Coin, and Magically Burned String.

Magic Trick Kits:

The innumerable magic trick kits are attractive to the ones interested in learning tricks more than the common card and coin tricks. As everyone must be aware the cards and the coin tricks are the most popular ones in addition to the other assortments of magic tricks. The coin based tricks can be at times easier than those based on the cards as the individual should learn to handle the cards smartly. The shuffling of the cards in a desired manner to perform the trick is very essential. Sometimes the ‘magician’ has to manage the trick by working on 2 –3 cards while pretending to fiddle only with one card. But some cards can be modified specially of the magic tricks, like covering one half of the card with half of another card etc. Some of the famous magic tricks of the magic kits are Vanishing coin trick, Eggcup trick, and the Broken Pencil trick. In short, these magic kits contain items specially designed to do the ‘magic’ like the ball connected to the string which stops at one’s word and continues at ‘Go’. The trick is the string is designed such a way that the person saying ‘stop’ stretches the string tightly at that moment and the ball stops. On relaxing the grip, the ball continues to move down.

Disappearing Coin Trick

The same trick of making a coin ‘disappear’ as the audiences are witnessing it can be done in several ways. Suggested here is one such manner in which a glass, colored paper and handkerchief is used. The glass has to be pasted with the colored paper exactly matching the shade of the sheet over which the glass is placed upside down. The trick is to place a coin on the colored sheet and inform that the coin is going to disappear. After displaying the presence of the coin, cover it with the handkerchief. While pulling out the handkerchief, move the glass over the coin without anyone noticing it. And lo! The coin would have ‘disappeared’ under the magical kerchief.

Reading One’s Mind

This can be easy with prior preparation and careful steps to hide the actions from the onlookers. Use a clear tape to be wound around the thumb with the sticky part outside. A piece of lead can be carefully placed on the inner side of the thumb, stuck to the tape. Pretend to write on a paper initially while nothing is being written. Have two boxes filled with cards containing shapes in one and numbers in the other box. Ask one of the audience to pick one card from each, showing the onlookers the shape and the number they have selected. Surprise everyone by showing them the paper on which you had ‘written’ earlier which contains the shape and number chosen by the person. The trick is to jolt down the shape and the number on the paper with the lead as the person displays it to the audience but pretending to be watching them.

Magic Tricks With Coins
In Scotland, Magic is an excellent way of entertaining your friends and family. It is also very useful in business and can be used as a great “ice-breaker” when meeting new business contacts.

In this trick, you will make a coin vanish under impossible test conditions!

How The Trick Appears To The Audience

The Magician rolls up his sleeves and holds a coin in his hand, so everyone can see it.

Apart from the coin, it is apparent that his hands are empty.

He then drapes a handkerchief over his hand and the coin.

He asks several people to reach under the handkerchief and verify the coin is still there.

He then asks someone to tie the ends of the handkerchief around wrist.

The Magician then says he will attempt to make the coin vanish into thin air.

With his other hand, he makes some mysterious gestures above the handkerchief.

He asks someone to untie the handkerchief and remove it from his hand.

When they do, everyone can see the coin had completely disappeared!

The audience can examine his hands and the handkerchief, but there is no clue to how this miracle was performed.

How The Trick Is Done

The trick is a good example of how the simplest of tricks can be made into a minor miracle with a good presentation.

Unknown to the audience, one of the spectators is a confederate of yours.

When you ask several people to feel under the handkerchief, you make sure that he is the last person to do so.

When your confederate reaches under the handkerchief, he secretly removes the coin by concealing it in his hand.

If your confederate does this in a relaxed manner, he will not arouse suspicion.

You can then have someone else tie the ends of the handkerchief around your wrist.

Only at this point do you say that you will attempt to make the coin vanish.

With a suitable dramatic build up and some magical gestures with your free hand, have someone untie and remove the handkerchief from your hand.

The coin has vanished!

Your audience will be extremely amazed and have absolutely have no idea of how you did it!

This trick is extremely baffling and the audience will think you are a great magician.

Magic Tricks With Coins
Perhaps, optical illusion and magic are no different from each other for both share the same effects: they amaze and fascinate and deceive the human eye.

A suspecting audience will lose the chance of catching the trick if you are perfectly endowed with sleight of hand skill and interest.

Your eyes can be deceived both by magician’s hand dexterity and apparent psychological persuasion (patter). The apparent patter of a magician combined with quicksilver hand skill is a perfect match to a dubious crowd.

Practical Optical Illusions

Optical illusions can be carried out in front of a large or medium size audience or can be performed using pictures especially if you have no immediate contact with the person you are trying to communicate with.

Pictures that visibly change their color or physically modifies along the way to keeping a long stare at them or by following simple rules or instruction helps you baffle your friends and amaze them of your ingenuity.

Optical Illusion is Magic

Magic is based on optical illusion because it involves the use of deceitful tricks that tends to help you perform the unnatural. Some of the most famous illusionists of time like Harry Houdini perform magic using a technique called Pepper’s Ghost.

In Pepper’s Ghost illusory technique, the use of glass fibers are perfectly positioned to create a hologram figure of the object you are trying to hide. Special effects and the use of black background are also critical to the performance of technique.

In the late 1800s, Harry Houdini first performed his major magic trick in front of a large audience by making an elephant disappear and making if appear again according to his own willing.

Since then, a lot of his contemporaries began making use of this type of strategy until it was patented in the late 1860.

Magic is a type of Illusion

You can hardly separate magic from optical illusion because the one is characteristic of the other. Magic involves the use of tricks that involve the quick hand and the use of colors and objects that seem to block the actual image of the main subject.

Specific productions (magic types) are achieved which shadows the image of the main object being given attention to.

For example, a glass of water that is apparently empty is actually lined with a clear material while the inside is stuff with material which you may show to your audience as a product of your magic (coins flowing from an empty bottle) when taken out.

Magic Tricks With Coins
Do you want to amaze and astound your friends and family with illusions and magic tricks? Do you think it will take years and years to learn how to do magic trick? While professional magicians invest hours practicing and perfecting their performances, for those seeking to learn how to do a magic trick to liven up a party, there are several key (and quick) points to consider. Learning how to do magic trick involves only two simple procedures.

1) Learn the Trick Completely

There are no shortcuts in magic. Each magic trick has a special way of being presented to the audience. Often, the trick employs the use of a scientific principle and it would in your best interests to thoroughly understand that concept before trying out the trick.

Therefore, the first step in learning how to do magic trick is to memorize the technique of the trick. This may include holding a coin a certain way or dealing out cards in a special pattern. Fix those instructions in your mind first and when that has been done, it is time for the second part of learning how to do a magic trick.

2) Practice, Practice, Practice

While practice may seem to be tedious at times, to perform magic tricks this step is essential. Stand in front of a mirror, preferably a full length one to try out the trick. Another option is to videotape your practice time. In this way, you can be the ‘audience’ and observe what parts of your performance need to be improved upon.

Practicing also gives the aspiring magician an added boost of confidence. Being sure of your technique and delivery will show your audience your mastery of the magic.

3) The Secret to a Good Show

Magic requires manipulation both of the props and the audience. When you learn how to do magic trick, you take that head knowledge of the illusion and then transfer it to your hands. Although the procedure to do the trick may be relatively easy to understand, it may take some time to master the movements. Good magicians realize that the success of a trick really rests in their own hands. They are like an actor on stage, memorizing their part and then performing it with confidence.

Most magic tricks require you to misdirect your audience’s attention while you manipulate the props. Although this takes a good amount of practice, once you have the knack of this, you will be on your way to fame, even if your fame is limited to family and friends.

Although many people learn how to do magic trick for fun, it can even be the start of a new career. Yes, magic can make money. Once you develop the necessary skills, and when your reputation as a magician becomes known, you may find yourself being asked to perform at a party. Never underestimate the power of magic! But until you get to that level, master each trick, practice every day and watch what happens.
